Regulars adore the chicken wings, often described as some of the best in Chicago, and the creative burger specials are a hit. Most Disliked
While The Dime has a lot going for it, some customers occasionally note that the salty pretzel buns can overshadow their delicious burgers. During peak hours, the lively atmosphere can sometimes lead to a wait for service, albeit the quick staff try to keep things moving. Also, while the bar features a solid beer selection, a few patrons feel the drink offerings could be more diverse. The crowded conditions on busy nights might not suit those looking for a quiet evening out. Overall, slight kinks in the experience don’t overshadow the fun and community spirit that The Dime embodies.

There are a number bars on this stretch of Lincoln Ave, and sometimes it may hard to distinguish many of them for each other. However, there are many as aspects of the The Dime that differentiate it from the other places in the area. First, it’s a Big Ten Bar. If this important to you and you are a fan or or went to a Big Ten school, this is a plus. Second, it has a little something for everyone. They have a number of TVs if you are sports fan and play cool music to listen to if sports isn’t your thing. Third, the food is good. It’s nothing fancy, just good bar good. I’ve been here twice, and enjoyed the food each time. On my first trip I ordered chicken wings, waffle fries and a chicken sandwich stuffed with Mac n cheese (I don’t recall the name). I liked each dish, but the way to go are the wings. They were on par with any of great wings I’ve had in Chicago. My second, and most recent trip, was to try their current Friday special. It’s $25.00 for a double cheeseburger with waffle fries and two hours of all you can drink beer. The burger was good and fries were crispy. My only issue was that pretzel bun was a bit salty. Overall for the price, and with beer included, it’s a good burger at a good price. For beer, I got a buckets of Bud Light and Coronas. Not the best beer in all the world, but for the price, on a Friday night and in Lincoln Park, this is a great deal. Overall, if you are looking for a good bar with good food this a place to check out.
